Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith.

Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith:After three years of fighting in the Clone Wars, Anakin Skywalker begins his journey towards the Dark Side of the Force, putting his friendship with Obi Wan Kenobi and his marriage at risk.
I laughed, I cried, I knew what was going to happen but I was still on the edge of my seat (no, not literally). It was worth missing Smallville (and the Batman Begins preview!!), sitting in line outside the theater for over an hour with Kasey and then in the theatre for two more hours with the brothers Hatch to see. Most of the time I get bored with the movie, I can’t wait for it to be over. But it wasn’t the case with this one.
I’ve read mixed reviews regarding the movie. Some of the fight scenes were a little long and drawn out, Anikin’s move to the dark side was a little ambiguous, and some of the acting was horrible, but I kinda want to see it again in the near future. Maybe after it goes off pass restriction at the theatre I can get the roommate to take me.
It wasn’t as bad as the first two, but not as awesome as the last three. I loved the opening, R2-D2 is such a bad-ass robot. And Yoda will always be one of my favorite characters. I really enjoyed the random bits of humor thrown in the movie. For example, when Obi-Wan and Ankian were fighting in the final scene, a robot pops up, looks at them and buzzes off.
Definitely a movie about moral dilemma. Doing what is right isn’t always what is easy.
I still doubt Hayden Christensen’s ability to act though. He was good in Shattered Glass but he didn’t really have to act much, he played a “journalist who fell from grace when it was found he had fabricated over half of his articles.” His acting was a little better in this one, but still lacking in conviction and chemistry. But I got to see him without a shirt on, two thumbs way way up.
On the way home from the theatre, Travis was talking about how he was amused at the ending when the technology used on the ships goes from modern to what was used in the original. And then Tim called and was talking about the same thing. Creepy.
And now, a list (unordered!) of things to read:
- Embarrassing Things That Might Happen to You While Using a Lightsaber by Patrick Cassels. Gotta love McSweeney’s.
- Dear George Lucas by Joshua.
- my hero Keegan Jones says—- “I’ve come to the conclusion that new Star Wars trilogy is much better if you watch the trailer, then invent the rest of the movie in your head. It’s a sure-fire way to making the movie as interesting and possible. Bet you didn’t know that Yoda sliced up Jar Jar Binks for dinner in Episode 1…”
- And Timmy’s thoughts.
What’s for lunch?
