Here I am, less than six months away from my college graduation. In just five semesters of college, I have managed to acquire enough credits to get my BA in Art History. Had I not gone to DC, I would be less than three weeks away.
List of things that I managed to accomplish in my short tenure:
- Freshman (ha!) Intern with the Student Government Association.
- Studied Abroad.
- Green Jacket.
- Webmaster of BHA.
- Wing Senator for Bruce Hall.
- Intern in Washington DC.
Had I known what I know now about life and the world, I would have chosen a smaller, more conservative school up in the North Eastern part of the United States instead of taking the easy way out and going for UNT. Granted, when I started college I was going to UNT for their Communication Design program which is one of the best in the nation. Their Art History program, any Art program really, is also highly ranked but I think I would’ve had a much more challenging academic experience and been surrounded by more what I consdier “my type” of people at another academic institution. The Art History program at Georgetown isn’t much different than the one at UNT. Don’t get me wrong, I love North Texas. It is a great school if you can manage to get a foot in the door and not get lost among the 30,000+ students. Size does matter.
Things I would like to have done had I the chance:
- Honors Program. I entered college with enough credits to be classified as a second semester sophomore (sliteration!). I had almost all of my core classes completed so there was no point in being in the honors program.
- RA.
- Eagle Ambassador.
- Internship with a musuem in the DFW area.
- Wright Entrepreneurial Internship through the Murphy Enterprise Center.
On the other hand, I wouldn’t trade any of the experiences or people that I have met along the way for anything in the world.
