Let Them Eat Cake!
Feb 2nd, 2007 by Kate
I volunteered to host my mom’s youngest sister’s birthday celebration at my apartment tomorrow. Partly because my mom’s middle sister keeps complaining about how she hasn’t seen my place, “the BBP,” and I think it’ll be fun to have the ladies over. You know, change things up a bit now that I’m an adult and have got a place of my own that is half respectable. I also volunteered to make the cake. I live alone, I never get to cook awesome things like cakes. Because if I do, I’ll end up eating the whole thing and that’s just not good for the waist or the butt.
Feast your eyes on this:

I used the following recipe from a food blog I read, Simply Recipes: Suzanne’s Chocolate Cake Recipe. But I mixed it up a bit. The recipe calls for “a flavoring liquid (water, vanilla, rum, cognac, kirsch, or amaretto),” I used vanilla rum. The frosting is so rich, I’m almost in sugar shock. And my cake is only two layers instead of three. Live with it.
I can’t wait for the ladies to eat it tomorrow. I had some left over batter and made half a dozen cupcakes. If you’re nice, and I like you, I may let you have one. I’m also pretty sure there will be left over cake. It’ll probably go with me to Denton on Thursday for the posse meeting.
Let them eat cake! Hey, Marie Antoinette and I have the same birthday. Therefore, I think its only fair that I use the phrase whenever possible. Cheers y’all.
