Will You Be My Valentine? V-Day 07 Post.

Be Mine.
It has become sort of a tradition for me to write a Valentine’s Day post. To start preparing for this post, I to go back my previous entries to re-read them and reflect. I’m not going to link you to them because that journal is no longer who I am, but I will bring you the highlights.
I started in 2004. I was single, but kind of seeing this guy who one of my college roommates ended up dating in 2005… long story. “I don’t see why everyone around here hates V-day so much. So, I’m single… that doesn’t mean I hate Valentine’s Day… it’s a time to remember past loves… and it’s a time to dream about those loves that are to come.” I think that is something very mature for a 19 year old to say.
In 2005 I was single and fabulous. But that didn’t stop me! Kasey and I threw a surprise party for Jessica in B304, I got a tuba Valentine from my Death Squad co-workers and I went to see some of my favorite bands in Deep Ellum with my two favorite little brothers.
Last year’s entry was a bit different. I was with he who shall not be named and thought I was in love. Honestly, it’s painful to read and I don’t want to think about it. Except for the part about my brown paper bag: “The brown paper bag that I decorated yesterday is bursting at the seams with goodies from the rest of my co-workers, it’s sitting on my desk instead of hanging on the wall because it fell off it’s so full of love.”
So here I am. Valentine’s Day 2007. A year older, hopefully wiser, more comfortable with me and stronger as an individual. So far, today has been pretty eventful despite my awful mood. I had a great interview in North Dallas, and just got home from my local wine shop where I purchased 3 bottles of “girl power” themed wines for tonight’s girls night in (or out): Queen of Hearts, Working Girl’s White and 3 Girls Cab. Should be a fun night. Screw boys. I thought I had a Valentine, but now I’m not so sure. I’ve got great friends, that’s all that matters.
So singles awareness day, bring it on. Tomorrow we’re doing Valentine’s day with the posse, we even decorated our own bags for the party just like when we were in elementary school. The party continues this weekend with a trip to Austin to see two of my favorite girls, and who knows who else we will run in to.
- Some cute goodies for your special someone:
- Smittens: for holding hands in the cold.
- White Castle for Valentine’s Day.
