A Couple of New Things.
Mar 29th, 2007 by Kate
It’s almost 3am and I can’t sleep. This seems to be developing into a nightly problem. I’ll go to bed early because I’m tired and then be awake at some ridiculous hour of the morning. My brain is buzzing with ideas and I think I’m subconsciously freaking out about something, so I figured I’d write and see if I could get some of that out. Robot Chicken is on Adult Swim. That’ll keep me entertained for the next fifteen or so minutes.
New Job:
As I put it in an email to some of my friends at the old job, “after two months of prostituting myself out to various employers I have finally landed myself a new position.” Today I accepted an offer from an advertising agency in Uptown. Poofy calls them “Hot Guy,” so from now on that is what I will be referring to them as. I will be working as Project Administrator in the Interactive Department. Basically, I’ll be a glorified secretary and the hub of the department. But I am ok with this for a couple of reasons: 1) I’m making more than I made at Apollo, 2) I’ll be working in the industry I want to be in and 3) the company culture rocks. During this whole process I have been telling my mom about my interviews and she told me that I had yet to be as excited about any of the companies that I met with like I had been when I met with Apollo. I called her right after my initial meeting with them and told her that I had found my new Apollo. After my first interview with Hot Guy I was there last week to meet with a couple of people from their account management team, and I recognized one of the girls I was chatting with. We were in SGA together back in 03-04 and have a couple of mutual friends.
As a reward for myself I bought the dress I promised myself and then another one at WHBM because they were having their Spring Dress Event and I just couldn’t resist. I may have gone a bit overboard but I deserve it. And no more strapless dresses for me for a while.
Snowflake.
New Pet:
Everything in my apartment is covered in a thin layer of white cat hair. Last week I adopted a cat from the animal shelter. I fell in love with her the Thursday before when I went up there to donate some supplies I had and wasn’t going to use. I didn’t even have to play with her at the shelter, I knew we were perfect for each other. My instincts aren’t usually wrong. Her name is Snowflake, that is what the shelter named her and I kept it. I mostly call her Kitter and Whore. She’s such an attention whore, and a brat. We get along fantastic. I’ve been wanting a pet for a long time, and although I’m more of a dog person, a cat is better suited to my lifestyle. I think she’s more like a dog than a cat which is aweomse. Mom isn’t too thrilled about the cat, but what is she going to do?
New Church:
I’ve recently begun attending a nice Methodist church up the street. It’s not the same as the church I grew up in, but its close. I go to the 8:30 service. I know it’s early but I am very traditional when it comes to how I worship and that is when that church has its traditional service. Last week, Pastor Tom quoted Dana Carvey’s Church Lady. You know a church rocks if the Pastor is quoting SNL. End of story.
