Happy Birthday MacBook!
Oct 18th, 2007 by Kate
One year ago today I took the plunge and bought my MacBook. My poor PowerBook died the day I graduated from college and it had been almost since months since then. I needed a new computer! On my way home from work that day I stopped at NorthPark Mall and shelled out the big bucks.
I like to give my computers names on their first birthdays. That way I’ve had enough time to figure out their personality. My PowerBook was a stubborn pain in the butt who thought it ruled the world, thus I named it Rygel after the character on Farscape who has a similar personality. But the MacBook is the exact opposite. We get along quite well. Therefore, I am naming her Annice (pronounced Anne-niece). It’s a classy name, she’s a classy lady. It’s also the name of one of my great-aunts.
She’s been working a lot harder lately since I’ve been having to use her at work. The stupid Dell they gave me decided to stop working. I had to get a new motherboard after six months, and when the technician replaced it, he didn’t properly install the fan so the computer wasn’t cooling. I work my computers to the bone, poor things. But Annice can run with the best of them.
So, Happy Birthday MacBook! I’m ok with being a nerd and celebrating the birthday (bought-day) of my electronics. :)
