Futurama: Bender’s Big Score!
Nov 28th, 2007 by Kate
It’s back!
Last night, VK and I went to a special screening of Bender’s Big Score, Futurama’s all new, feature-length epic. The movie was released on DVD yesterday, so it’s not like we were seeing something before the general public, but we did get to see it on the big screen and then following the movie we got to sit through a Q&A with Futurama producer Lee Supercinski. That was a neat experience. Most of the questions that were asked were about either the actual production of the movie or about the cancellation of the show back in 2003.
The movie was hilarious of course, and featured the original cast of voices along with special appearances by Coolio, Al Gore, Mark Hamill and Sarah Silverman. The basic plot of the movie involves Planet Express being taken over by nudist alien invaders who send Bender on a rampage through time, forcing him - slightly against his will - to steal earth’s greatest treasures.
The good news is that this is the first of four feature length Futurama movies. After their release, these movies will be cut up into four ‘episodes’ and played on Comedy Central. And, beginning in 2008, Comedy Central will be playing all of the previous seasons and then the movie as episodes in mid-Spring.
