Will You Be My MOH?
Shortly after I got off the phone with my parents to tell them that the Mister had popped the question, I called the girl who had been my best friend since birth. I didn’t tell her what had happened, I simply asked her if she wanted to have dinner the next night. I had recently started working on a project for a client that is about 20 miles away from where she lives and we had talked about getting together for dinner sometime when I was working on site.
On my way to work the next morning, I stopped by the store to pick up a card. It had a picture of two little girls on the front and a sweet friendship message on the inside. I wrote a note on the inside to her. Something along the lines of “you’re more than a friend to me, you’re a sister… I’d be honored if you’d stand up with me as my Maid of Honor when the Mister and I become a family in front of our families, friends and God.”
When I got to the restaurant, I took off my ring and tucked in safely away in my purse and tried to act as nonchalant as possible, but really I was dying of excitement inside! She arrived shortly after I did and we were seated at a nice table in an alcove of the outside patio. We looked over the menu, ordered and caught up on each others lives. Then “all of a sudden” I remembered that I had a card for her…
This has got to be my favorite picture from the evening:

She had just opened the card, read what I had written inside and turned to say, “So, when are you getting engaged?”
That’s when I pulled out my ring and we both started squealing!!

Asking her to be my Maid of Honor was one of the easiest wedding related decisions that had to be made, and it was my first official wedding act.
All pictures by me.
