DIY Bonanza.
With (less than) six months to go until our big day, I decided it was time to start knocking out a couple of our DIY projects. Life is about to get crazy and we won’t have the whole weekend to lounge around and knock these out. Earlier this week I put together my wedding binder and put post it notes with things that need to be done for each section on the tab for that section. We’ve already decided on our menu and invitation suite design. We’re on a roll!
I love that binder.
This weekend I knocked out a few projects and I’m quite happy to say that the Mister helped! We went to Lowes and bought part of our groomsmen gifts and I worked on monogramming them in our wedding font. I don’t want to give away the surprise so you’ll have to wait until after the big day to see those.
This morning we got out my gocco and made our DIY custom monogrammed napkins. They turned out pretty neat, I think. I’ll be posting a tutorial on those later this week.
Right now I’m waiting on my etch-test to dry so I can add another coat. Instead of spending big bucks on custom engraved champagne glasses, I’m using my old set of champagne glasses and etching them with a kit I bought at Hobby Lobby about two years ago. I hope it works. If that fails, I have a back up plan: Oriental Trading Company. My mom got their wedding catalog from a co-worker and sent it down to me. When I saw that those glasses were only $13, I knew they would be a perfect back up plan. We’ll see how this project goes though, I’m hoping our toasting flutes will be free!
I feel a lot better now that I’m able to cross off a couple things on our list.
