DIY: “I DO” Letters.

As promised, below is the tutorial on how I created the letters featured in yesterday’s engagement shoot teasers by Jenna Cole. She asked if she could borrow the idea from me and I told her I was inspired by a booth I saw at the Dallas Bridal Show in January, so it wasn’t really my idea to begin with. These days it’s all about taking an idea you see, adapting it to best fit your needs and running with it. The wheel has already been invented, you just have to add your touch to it.

What you will need for this project:
wooden letters with a smooth blank side, mine are pressed wood
colorful paper
spray adhesive
exacto knife
self-healing mat

I got all my materials at Michaels. Be sure to sign up for their email to get great coupons!

Step 1:
Lay out your letters on your paper. If your chosen paper has a pattern, make sure the pattern is going the same way on all the letters.

Step 2:
Spray the side of the letters you want the paper to stick to with a spray adhesive. Be sure to do this in a well ventilated area.

Step 3:
Place the side of the letter you just sprayed with the adhesive on the backside of your pattern paper.

Step 4:
Cut the letters out of the paper by laying them print side down on a self-healing mat and trace around them carefully with your exacto kinfe. Turn them over and admire your finished product!

What a great idea. We love seeing project like this using wooden letters.
